ChargePlace Scotland’s transition to EZO
EZO has begun transitioning the ChargePlace Scotland (CPS) network across Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Moray and the Highland councils.
You’ll start to see EZO chargers appearing in more locations across Scotland in the months ahead, with many more to follow as the rollout continues. For the most up-to-date information on which sites have migrated, visit our Phase 1 Migration Plan page.
As part of this process, no customer or payment data has been shared with EZO. To access and use chargers across Scotland, all users will need to create a new EZO account. This can be done quickly and easily through the EZO app.
We understand that transitions can take some adjustment, and our goal is to make this change as seamless as possible. This page has been created to answer common questions from EV drivers and to help guide you through the move from ChargePlace Scotland to EZO with ease.
When will the ChargePlace Scotland chargers migrate over?
Migration has already begun. Chargers in Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Moray, and the Highlands are currently being transitioned to the EZO network. You’ll start to see more EZO chargers appearing in the app over the coming months as the rollout continues across Scotland.

Can I use my existing ChargePlace Scotland login details for EZO?
No. Your ChargePlace Scotland account belongs to that network and won’t carry over. You’ll need to create a new EZO account to continue using public chargers. Simply download the EZO app, and set up a new account.
• Download the EZO app - Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Can I still use the ChargePlace Scotland app?
Yes, the CPS network is still active. You can continue using the CPS app to access any chargers that haven’t yet migrated. Once a charger moves to EZO, it will only appear in the EZO app.
The CPS app and network will remain usable for the next few months, until the full migration is complete.
What happens to my ChargePlace Scotland RFID card, and will it still work?
Your ChargePlace Scotland RFID card will continue to work on chargers that remain on the CPS network for the next 3+ months. Once a charger migrates to EZO, it will no longer recognise CPS cards. To access migrated sites, you’ll need to use the EZO app or order an EZO RFID fob.
Do I need to order a new EZO RFID card?
Yes. If you’d like to start a charge quickly without using the app, you can order an EZO RFID fob after setting up your account. Just open the EZO app, go to Account > My RFID Cards > tap the + icon > select Order an RFID card.
For more information, please visit ezo.co.uk
Can I get a free EZO fob?
EZO uses RFID fobs to make starting a charge quick and easy. They usually cost £6, but we’re giving them away free to the first 1,000 customers who create an EZO account.
Just sign up, and if you’re one of the first 1,000, we’ll send your free fob straight to you.
How long will my new EZO card take to arrive?
Once you’ve ordered your EZO RFID fob, it typically arrives within 7 to 10 working days. You’ll receive an email confirmation once your order has been processed.
How do I download and log in to the EZO app?
You can download the EZO app for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Once installed, create a new account using your email address to start charging and manage your sessions.
Will my saved payment details transfer to my EZO account?
No. Your payment information cannot be transferred from ChargePlace Scotland. You’ll need to add a new payment method directly in your EZO account when you set it up.
Where can I get more information about the ChargePlace Scotland transition?
You can follow the progress of the transition on the EZO migration page. Migrated chargers will appear in green on the map, which is updated weekly. They will also display within the EZO app.
ChargePlace Scotland has a Transition Resource Hub with the latest updates, and FAQs.
You can visit chargeplacescotland.org/transition-resource-hub
Will I still be able to use the same chargers after the transition?
Yes. The same public chargers are being migrated to the EZO network. Once a site transitions, you’ll simply access it using the EZO app or your EZO RFID fob instead of the CPS app or card.
How will I know if a charger has switched to EZO?
You’ll see EZO branding on the charger and updated signage on-site. You can also check the live map in the EZO app, any migrated chargers will appear there, while those still on the CPS network will remain visible in the CPS app.
You can also see the chargers that have migrated over to the EZO network on our Migration Plan page.
Do I need to pay for a membership or access fee to use EZO?
No. There’s no membership or subscription fee required to use EZO chargers. You’ll only pay for the energy you use, along with any parking or overstay fees set by the site host.
Are the charging tariffs changing under EZO?
Tariffs will update once a charger has been migrated to the EZO network.
EZO has a flat rate across its chargers.
- AC £0.55
- DC (50 - 149 kW) £0.75
- DC (150kW+) £0.85
Access/Connection Fee: £0.25 (per session)
You can view the charging rates and any applicable overstay fees directly in the EZO app under each charger’s details.
Where can I see the charging tariffs?
You can view the most up-to-date tariffs directly in the EZO app. Simply find the charger you want to use and you’ll see the access fee, energy rate (per kWh), and any overstay fees that may apply.
We will also be placing signage across our sites with current tariff information to keep customers informed.
Can I still use contactless or web payments on EZO chargers?
The ChargePlace Scotland Webpay system will no longer work on migrated chargers. Most EZO chargers support contactless payments, so you can tap your card or phone to start a charge. You can also start sessions through the EZO app or with an EZO RFID fob for quick access.
Note: Contactless may not be available on all older units.
What happens to my charging history and invoices from ChargePlace Scotland?
Your previous charging history and invoices will remain in your CPS account. EZO will record your new charging sessions from the moment you create an account, with full session details available in the app.
How do I report a fault on an EZO charger?
If you encounter an issue contact our 24/7 Customer Support team. Include the charger’s ID number (found on the unit) and detail the issue.
